CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Cancer care is now more accessible for patients in central Virginia.
Located off of or 250 and I-64 is the newly opened UVA Health Cancer Care Pantops.
“We at UVA feel like we have a real responsibility statewide to provide that excellent care, expert care. And we’re doing that here and we’re really trying to bring that care close to home. And I think this is a true example of just that,” said University Medical Center CEO, Wendy Horton.
UVA Health Cancer Care Pantops is at a new and bigger space... now with more than 14 exam rooms and 25 infusion chairs and planning to add 15 more infusion chairs by the end of the year.
“This space allows us all a little bit of breathing room, but mostly for patients. It just allows us flexibility for patients to come to one location for both their clinic and infusion,” said Physician Oncology Service Line Leader, Leigh Cantrell.
UVA says this extra care added at the building along Peter Jefferson Parkway, allows for more comfort and convenience for the cancer patients they serve.
“We were running out of space for infusions. And so, this will allow patients who live on this side of town to come park close and come in, see their doctor, and have their infusion at the same location,” said Cantrell.
