Nielsen To Begin Work On Hospital

Project Managers Seek To Keep Lid On Construction Overhead

Nielsen Builders Inc. is set to begin work on two projects worth $2.6 million at Culpeper Regional Hospital.

The Harrisonburg-based Nielsen was awarded a $1.6 million contract for construction of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging unit and a $1 million contract for renovation and upgrading the existing operating room suite.

The MRI unit includes a basement and support structure for modular units to house the imaging technology, along with a drive-up canopy and exterior elevator. It is scheduled for completion in October.

The OR renovation, which includes upgraded mechanical and electrical systems and new interior finishes, should wrap up in July.

Culpeper Regional Hospital is a 70-bed acute-care facility with 600 employees.
