Diversity at Nielsen 

Nielsen is proud of its 230 employees, who come from a wide range of backgrounds.  In 1998, we began to hire employees who had moved here from different countries.  Currently, almost twenty percent of the workforce is Hispanic.   

We have implemented several diversity initiatives over the past few years to help enhance communication and cooperation among employees. They include:

  • Conversational Spanish classes, with an emphasis on construction terms

  • Conversational English classes, again, with a focus on words used in the construction industry

  • Presentations on different cultures

  • Bilingual employees on staff

  • Translation of pertinent written information into Spanish

These initiatives have helped to break down communication barriers, to improve safety on the work site, and to demonstrate respect for individual employees.

Nielsen's most recent initiative is offering Spanish language instructions through Rosetta Stone's online learning center.
