Nielsen Builders Wins Construction Contracts in Shenandoah Valley

Augusta County Library Renovation

This is the second phase of construction for the Augusta County Library.  Nielsen completed Phase 1 in 2007.  This phase consists of approximately 19,000 square feet of renovation and 2,700 square feet of additions.  The work will be performed in three phases over a 9-month period.  Nielsen will add a new entrance and enclose the existing courtyard area, while renovating all areas of the existing building, which was not included in Phase I.  Frazier Associates is the architect for this project, which is scheduled to be completed in July 2010.

Covenant Presbyterian Church Addition

Nielsen Builders, Inc. is currently constructing a $1.2 million expansion of the existing church. Twelve classrooms and a 2,600 square foot activity room are part of the 16,000 square foot addition that aims to fulfill the growing needs of the church. The metal-clad steel building design is a cost effective structure that will tie seamlessly into the aesthetics of the current building and the previous addition.  Sease & Associates, P.C. is acting as a consultant for the church during the construction phase of the project. The construction team broke ground in September 2009 and is scheduled for occupancy in June 2010.

Woodrow Wilson Dining Hall Renovation

Nielsen will renovate 24,580 square feet of the Harold E Watson Kitchen and Dining Hall at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center.  The $3.9 million renovation includes modifications to the kitchen, dining hall, snack shack, and bowling alley.  The kitchen will receive new equipment and the dining hall will be upgraded with new finishes.  The mechanical system efficiency will be increased by the installation of a new boiler and a new generator will enhance the life safety system.  Construction work, including asbestos abatement, began the second week of September and is scheduled for completion in August 2010.

Shenandoah County District Courts and Human Services Building

The Shenandoah County District Courts Building is a new 2 story, 30,000 square foot building in Woodstock. The building will have a courtroom, offices, a lobby, and waiting room on both floors. There is extensive site work and added parking on three sides of the building. There is also a fenced-in secured parking area for prisoners and staff.  Construction began the first part of October and is scheduled for occupancy November 2010.

The Human Services Building is a renovation of the old Safeway Food Market in Woodstock. The project includes asbestos and mold abatement prior to the demolition of the interior and installation of a new roof.  New windows will be cut into the exterior to allow more natural light and EIFS will cover the existing walls. New entrances will be added for efficient access. The building will host different offices and conference rooms throughout.  Construction began the first part of October and is scheduled for occupancy November 2010.
